How to make the paper stars for SoofDreamer

Here you are dear!

Hope its not too terribly crappy >_< I ended up having to finish it in microsoft paint because I've no photoshop skills TT_TT

Alrighty, here's the breakdown:

starting from the left there is the 'basic instructions' I think they're in Korean or something ._. I've no clue. I got the little pre-cut papers from the Hong Kong market in town. I do origami all the time with Japanese instructions I can't read worth a damn so I'm used to the whole trial and error and following the picture thing.

Next, following that pic to the right you can see I laid the paper out on a ruler so you can see the length of the paper, like I said I got this already pre-cut but I think if you want to you could cut your own. Use any kind of paper as long as it's not too terribly think, use different designs too!!

After that I have it so you can see the width of the paper, this is important for the star-- if the width is too wide it won't fold up correctly.

OK--

Step one: loop the paper as if you were going to tie a string in a simple loop knot. LOOSELY, this is KEY, paper is fragile remember that! If you go and try to tug it too hard you'll have to start alll over -_-

Step 2: tuck the long tail of your almost knot through the hole, keep it pinched loosely with your thumb or it will come undone on you.

Step 3: Begin to carefully pull the knot together, you'll see the 'pentagon' shape begin to take form. NOW, you will have a short tail of paper AND a long one.

Step 4: take the short tail of paper and fold it over, what you're doing is closing that end up to begin wrapping the long tail of paper around to re-enforce your star. see that there is now a little 'pocket' from folding that short tail of paper over, you need to tuck the end of it into that pocket; this will finish up that side so that you can start on the other.

Step 5: you have now what looks like a pentagon on a stick. This is good. if it looks messy it's OK, practice makes perfect, and when it comes to the art of paper folding your creases and folds will become more crisp and clean with time.

Step 6: Begin to fold the long tail of paper over the edges of the pentagon. Alternate edges, you want to wrap it snugly against and around all five of the edges before you come up with a small end.

Step 7: keep wrapping, keep it snug, keep it neat.

Step 8: You can see now you've left a small tail of paper and a pocket you made for yourself, isn't that neat? ^_^ tuck that tail into there, and don't be afraid if you a little too much paper at the end, tear a bit off and try to fit it into the pocket neatly.

Step 9: lookey there! A neat little pentagon!

Step 10: you're gonna start pinching in the edges.

Step 11: Keep pinching little Krabby!

Step 12: Last one annnddddd...

DONE! <3

Hope this was useful, and like I said keep practicing it really does make a difference.

I've made these little stars on a couple different occasions, I remember once I made my best friend a heart shaped glass jar full of these little stars for her birthday, the finished effect is just wonderful and it shows a lot of effort. Another thingI've done you can actually see in one of my Deviant folders, I did a little bunch of yellow stars and arranged them into a heart.

experiment, and have fun!
